Volunteer opportunities are available! Assist with meal preparations and serving, financial contribution, or setting up church host sites. We are looking for help with the following time commitments:

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to 1-2 hours once per week:
1. Intake Team - 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM | Register Guests at Intake Location
2. Welcome Desk - 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM | Check in guests, Check out sleeping bags at Host Church
3. Early Morning Risers - 6 AM - 7 AM | Help Wake up guests, collect sleeping bags, distribute prepared to-go breakfast

We are looking for Host Churches, to Provide Space and Volunteers:
1. Accommodation Space - Provide a room or hall, 6 PM - 6:30 AM for one week, to accommodate 20 overnight guests, plus a meal and some socialization area (30 people total)
2. Host Church Volunteers - Training Provided!
      A. Church Leader - On-Site Volunteer (5:30-9PM) Serving as point of contact to Host Church and CH HART Volunteers, answering questions, ensuring program runs smoothly
      B. Meal Teams - 6-8 PM, Provide meal to serve 30 people (20 guests, 10 volunteers)
      C. Overnight Team (Night Owls) - 8:30 PM - 6:30 AM (4-6 Volunteers) in shifts interact with guests and provide overnight security at Host Church. 

We are looking for Helper Churches:
Members can join as CH HART volunteers, or come alongside a Host Church which needs support. 
Example: Two churches can join forces to provide Meal Teams and Night Owls. 

We are looking for Helper Organization or Businesses:
Civic organizations or business volunteer teams are welcome to sign up to help as Meal Teams and Night Owls at a Host Church.

eligibility and The process

Intake: Monday through Sunday 5 pm - 6 pm (guests may not arrive prior to 5 pm) Bus leaves at 6 pm for Host Site.

Checkout: Clients depart at 6 am to return to the Intake Site.

Eligibility:  Citrus Heights residents age 18 and older. No animals. No TB test required. Guests are asked to follow reasonable rules: no weapons, no drug/alcohol use while in the program. Guests that appear too intoxicated/high, belligerent or generally unable to cope in a closed environment may be turned away and asked to return the following day.

Application Process:  Intake is 5 pm - 6 pm seven days a week during program dates. Guests may not arrive prior to 5 pm. Bus leaves at 6 pm for Host Site. There are 20 spaces available at each host site, must be over 18 years of age. Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Guests may not go directly to any of the participating churches. Guests must register at the intake site at Messiah Lutheran Church. All must participate in the Registration process to ensure safety and security. No weapons, no drugs, no marijuana, and no alcohol. No pets or service animals. Guests will be provided a hot dinner, a cot and sleeping bag, and a to-go breakfast in the morning. Guests depart at 6 am to return to the Intake Site. No loitering at Intake Site before Check-In or after Drop-off.
